Marvins Place (Germany) by Julian Bollerhoff
Two unsuccessful, but overambitious young filmmakers are running out of luck with their latest pseudo documentary film project until they find the socially isolated student Marvin. He would do almost anything for a small amount of attention, and they would do everything for a larger amount of fame. From the start this relationship could not be farer away from being mutually beneficial. But when they manage to talk the woman of his unfulfilled desires into the project an orgy of self-destruction unfolds. Her own wounded psyche turns out to be the perfect ally for the cynical cold camera. The unconventional perspective of this short movie brings voyeurism to a painful new level. Against their will the audience is forced to become partners in crime with the filmmakers while watching young Marvin's hopeless struggle. An emotional character study and an incisive satire about the act of filmmaking. It is the dark absurdity when men who could not be less interested in human beings are in the business of selling human emotions.
